Ruth Roman (n e Gold) was born in Lynn located in Massachusetts. Her parents were Lithuanian Jewish Mary Pauline and Abraham Roman. In her early years, Ruth Roman's carnival-barker father passed away and made her mother Mary Pauline (Gold), to become a waitress or cleaner to help them survive. Ruth attended the school in Boston's tenement region, which was the most deplorable. She only attended school for a couple of years, then taking a break to pursue her acting career.
